Information for the Spring 2020 junior coaching programme is detailed below. The Spring term will run for 6 weeks with a break during the Easter holidays. Sessions will cover a combination of traditional coaching sessions with qualified British Cycling coaches and group ride outs.
Summer term coaching 6-14 year olds
Please note; due to limited number of coaches and some of our riders wishing to use training as an opportunity to develop into racing, coaching is not available to riders under 6 years of age. Younger riders attending coaching should also be able to ride confidently without assistance on off road terrain managing climbs and some minor downhill.
Wednesdays 6:00 – 7:00pm 3rd April – 22nd May (6 sessions) Nine Acres, Peachfield Common, WR14 3HT Course Cost: £24 (£4 per session)
Please use Thirlstane Road for parking. Do not park at nine acres or blocking drives on The Lees.
As part of these sessions we may focus the older groups on ‘ride outs’ at an external venue within Malvern (normally within the hills). We will notify parents the week before and also send a message via email so please take note of any messages coming through. We still run coaching in bad weather and expect riders to have sufficient kit, however, unfortunately there may be the rare occasion when we have to cancel for which a refund is not possible.
As demand for places is high we are operating on a first come first served basis. We will group riders depending on their age and ability and only have space for a limited amount of riders in each group. To book your place please return your completed form below as soon as possible and by the cut off date of 18th March. Unfortunately once groups are full we will not be able to allocate any further spaces but will operate a waiting list in the event that a registered rider drops out.
Those successful (and unsuccessful) in securing a place for the Spring term will be notified by email before the end of March. Payment in advance will then be required in order to secure your place. Failure to pay once a place is allocated may mean your place is offered up to someone else on the waiting list.
We require all juniors attending coaching to have a valid Malvern Cycle Sport membership to cover the coming year. If your membership has expired you will be notified by email once your place has been secured. For new members details of how to join the club will be sent. For general membership enquiries contact firstname.lastname@example.org
PLEASE NOTE: All juniors attending the coaching session should have a bike in full working order with suitable off road tyres. We are unable to make any repairs during coaching. Don’t forget your helmet as NO HELMET NO RIDE. This should be correctly fitted and meet relevant safety standards. All coaches are British Cycling qualified and have relevant DBS vetting checks.
