2022 Junior Coaching Sign-Up



The Coaching Team are pleased to announce the return of junior coaching in 2022, taking place at Peachfield Common and West of England Car Park, suitable for children aged 6-15 years old.

The 6-week Spring coaching block will take place from 15th of June to the 20th of July. We are keeping to 8 groups of 8 riders, so places are limited due to the number of available coaches. All Covid precautions will be taken. Registration will only be possible via the website and payment will be via the PayPal link provided. Please ensure you inform us about any medical conditions that are relevant to coaching or First Aid. See the following list for more details and what to expect/ prepare.

Dates – 15th of June to the 20th of July. 

Cost – £5 per session, payable as a six-week block.

Ride expectations

Rider prerequisites

Off road basics

General off-roading on moderate trails with some coached stations using cones and simple trail features

Have learned to ride a bike on smooth, predictable surfaces but want to venture off-road and build on that skill base.  All ages, beginner ability.


Moderate trails with some climbing and descending. Nothing too technical and relaxed pace.

Riders looking to ride with friends, get exercise and explore new places. All ages and abilities. Must be able to ride 3-4 miles in undulating terrain.

Challenge tech

Technical and steep trails both up and down. Also some static coach-led sessions to work on specific skills eg step riding, wheelie practice.

Competent off-roaders with determination to work on complementary skills which require repetitive practice. Will require good level of fitness and willingness to ride steep uphill to access terrain. Must be able to ride 6-8 miles on the Malvern Hills.

Challenge race

Fast, technical riding covering all aspects of off-roading. Some fitness based hill repetitions/ efforts and some static skills based sessions

Competent off-roaders with desire to race/ compete and willingness to work physically hard to gain fitness. Likely to be suitable for ages 12+. Must be able to ride 6-8 miles on the Malvern Hills.

Notes for parents

  • Child must be a member of Malvern Cycle Sport. You can join HERE

  • Check bike in good condition before arrival as coaches won’t touch bikes

  • Check child has a spare inner tube of correct size

  • Check child has suitable clothing for conditions on the day

  • Everyone to maintain social distance of 2 metres at all times

  • No physical signatures required at sign in

  • Parents to drop and go to reduce the number of people on site

  • Coaches will have limited PPE in case of emergency (gloves and CPR face masks)

As demand for places is high we may not be able to accommodate all entrants. To book your place please complete registration form below and make payment by the cut-off date of 16th April. We will confirm places by the 5th of September and if unsuccessful your payment will be refunded.
